Principal's Message

Parent teacher conferences are this week and provide an important opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher. Together, you can celebrate your child’s growth, discuss areas where they may need additional support, and identify ways to help them continue learning. We value your partnership and look forward to having kind, honest, and productive conversations centered on your child’s success.

Beyond “How Was Your Day?”
Throughout October, we have been sharing open ended questions to help you learn more about your child’s school experience. This week’s question can help your child reflect on their growth and prepare for conferences.

This week, try asking:
“What is something you are getting better at in school?”

You might also follow up with: “What is something you would like more help practicing?”

Gratefully serving Chambers students, staff and community,
Mrs. Gann

Assistant Principal's Message

Dear Chambers Primary Families,

It was another fantastic week at Chambers! On Friday, we celebrated our October Pizza Party winners. Classes are selected for modeling our CHAMPS traits in the cafeteria. In the coming weeks, we will continue to promote positive attendance through "Beat the Bell." Student names will be randomly selected and called out during morning announcements. If the student is in their seat, ready to learn, they get to come to the office for a small prize.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you in the building for Parent Teacher Conferences. Conferences are an invaluable opportunity to celebrate your child's progress, discuss their growth, and partner together to support their success for the remainder of the school year. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in making Chambers Primary such a positive place for our Champs to learn and grow!

Attendance

We are continuing to promote strong attendance habits. This quarter, we had five classrooms that had 100% of students attend 90% or more school days. Let's work together to increase the number of classes reaching our schoolwide goal.
  • Tip for Families: Aim for arrival ten minutes before the bell rings. Did you know that morning community building and instruction begin right when the school day starts at 8:15? Students can enter the building as early as 7:45. Being on time ensures your child participates in vital morning meetings, organizational time, and class goal setting. Missing these foundational moments makes it harder for students to transition smoothly into their academic day.

Social Emotional Learning

We are continuing to focus on our CHAMPS trait of the month: Courteous. Being courteous means being polite, using our manners, and acting in a respectful way toward others.

In our SEL lessons this month, our students are also diving into specific skill building:
  • Kindergarten through 2nd Grade: Students will be learning about different sized problems the importance of having reactions that match the size of the problem. They will explore strategies that can be helpful for tiny, little, medium, big, and huge problems.
  • 3rd and 4th Grade: Students will learn about healthy friendships. They will explore what it means to be a friend, review practical examples of what friends do and don't do, and reflect on ways they can be a friend in different school settings.
This week our regulation skill is called Be a Helper from the "do it"  category, which are tools that are task and goal-oriented and involve taking action.

What is Be a Helper?
Be a helper or lend a hand while moving your body.
  • Hold the door open.
  • Erase the board.
  • Take out the trash.

As our students build these habits, try bringing these new reflection questions to your dinner table or after school conversations:
  • How did you use the "Be a Helper" skill at school today to lend a hand or show courtesy to someone?
  • When a small problem popped up today, how did you keep your reaction matching the size of the problem?
  • What is one way you showed a classmate what being a healthy, supportive friend looks like today?
Thank you for partnering with us to reinforce these important life skills at home!

In partnership,
Ms. Catie Bartley

Reminders/Notifications

Drop off Reminders

Please be mindful of our drop off expectations and work with us to keep the drive thru drop off moving. Only students should exit the car. If your student needs an adult to exit the car for any reason, we ask that you park and have your student use one of the walkways.

Cars should only use the car lane, not the bus lane. If you are going to park, you may proceed to the drop off island, keep left to the cars who are dropping off, and proceed to the parking lot.

Disabled parking spaces are reserved for those with a placard or our families with students in Special Programs that need additional assistance with walking to the front of the building.

It is important that we model for our students how we follow directions and show respect for others around us.

Conferences are next week! Every day on the week of October 26-30, school will release at 12:15pm. There is no late start on Wednesday - school begins at 8:15am. Please be sure to have arrangements for your student to be picked up on time. Buses will drop off approximately 3.5 hours earlier than the typical time.

Book Fair - Book Fairy

The Book Fair is almost here, and we're excited to bring back the Book Fairy program! If your student would like to purchase a book but may need some financial assistance, we’re here to help. Simply reach out to your child's teacher or Ms. Quay and the Book Fairy will make a visit to ensure your student gets to take home a book they love.
