Principal's Message

It was another great week at Chambers! One special highlight was kindergarten’s field trip to the pumpkin patch. Students enjoyed learning outside the classroom, exploring the farm, and making wonderful fall memories with their classmates.

Thank you to our kindergarten staff and family volunteers who helped make the trip safe, smooth, and fun. Experiences like these are possible because of the time, care, and partnership of our Chambers community!

Beyond “How Was Your Day?”
Throughout October, we are sharing open ended questions that can help you learn more about your child’s school experience. This week’s question focuses on problem solving and perseverance.

This week, try asking:
“What was something tricky for you today, and what did you do?”

You might also follow up with: “Did you keep trying, try a new way, or ask someone for help?”

Gratefully serving Chambers students, staff and community,
Mrs. Gann

Assistant Principal's Message

Dear Chambers Primary Families,

Safety is always our top priority, and this week our students and staff participated in The Great ShakeOut! This annual earthquake drill gave our Champs the opportunity to practice essential emergency procedures and review what to do in the event of an earthquake. We are looking forward to another great week. Keep reading for more information related to attendance and social emotional learning at Chambers.

Attendance

As a reminder, our schoolwide goal is for at least 90% of students to attend 90% of days. In order to maintain at least 90% attendance across the school year, students shouldn't miss more than 4 days total by the end of October. Thank you for your continued partnership in making every school day count!
  • Tip for Families: Keep a consistent sleep schedule on school nights. Did you know that elementary age children need between 9 and 12 hours of sleep each night to stay healthy and do their best? Students with regular sleep routines are much more likely to arrive on time and stay focused throughout the day. Setting a predictable bedtime ensures your child gets enough rest, making morning wakeups smoother and keeping their attendance strong.

Social Emotional Learning

We are continuing to focus on our CHAMPS trait of the month: Courteous. Being courteous means being polite, using our manners, and acting in a respectful way toward others. As our students build these habits, try bringing these new reflection questions to your dinner table or after school conversations:
  • What is one way you helped a friend or teacher feel appreciated today?
  • Was there a moment today when you practiced patience or waited your turn politely?
In our SEL lessons this month, our grades are also diving into specific skill building:
  • Kindergarten through 2nd Grade: Students will be learning about "expected" and "unexpected" behaviors. They will explore how expected behaviors help everyone feel safe, comfortable, and ready to learn in our shared school spaces.
  • 3rd and 4th Grade: Students will be focusing on Grit. Grit is the ability to persevere and keep trying even when things get challenging or hard.
Thank you for partnering with us to reinforce these important life skills at home!

This week our regulation skill is called Count Down from the "think it"  category, which are tools that provide thought-based strategies to help us regulate

What is Count Down?
  • Like a rocket launch, count backwards from ten to one
  • Keep your voice silent while counting inside your brain

In partnership,
Ms. Catie Bartley
