Principal's Message

It was another wonderful week at Chambers! Although students did not have school on Friday, our teachers spent the day learning, collaborating, and planning together. We focused on ways to strengthen classroom instruction, increase student participation and thinking, and provide effective support when students experience academic or behavioral challenges.

We are grateful for a staff that is committed to continually growing and improving on behalf of our students. Thank you, families, for adjusting your schedules and allowing us this valuable time to learn together. We look forward to welcoming our Bulldogs back on Monday!

Beyond “How Was Your Day?”
This month, we are sharing open ended questions that can help you learn more about your child’s school experience. This week’s question focuses on feelings and the moments that made your child feel successful.

This week, try asking:
“What was one moment today that made you feel proud?”
You might also follow up with: “What did you do that helped you feel that way?”

Gratefully serving Chambers students, staff and community,
Mrs. Gann

Assistant Principal's Message

Dear Chambers Primary Families,

There was so much joy in our building this week as we held our very first Student of the Month celebration! It was such a special moment to recognize our Chambers Champs who went above and beyond in demonstrating our CHAMPS traits during the month of September.
This month, we are focusing on our CHAMPS trait of Courteous. At school, we are actively learning and practicing what it means to be courteous every day, and we want to encourage our students to try out new ways of being courteous both in and out of the classroom! Here are a few practical ways our Champs can be courteous:
  • In the Classrooms & Hallways: Listening to the speaker, trying out kind phrases like "please," "thank you," and "excuse me," as well as practicing holding doors open for classmates and staff.
  • In the Lunchroom & Playground: Giving others a turn to speak, inviting classmates to join in games, and using encouraging words during play.
  • At Home: You can support students in being courteous at home by encouraging your child to try out courtesy in simple ways—like thanking a family member, following directions, offering to help, or practicing polite manners during family meals!

Attendance

As we settle further into October, keeping up strong attendance habits remains a top priority!
As a reminder, to maintain at least 90% attendance across the school year, students shouldn't miss more than 4 days total by the end of October. We know seasonal bugs and essential appointments pop up, but even partial days count toward valuable learning time, so bringing your student in before or after an appointment makes a big difference. Thank you for your continued partnership in making every school day count!
  •  Tip for Families: Establish a "morning launchpad" near the front door. Pick a dedicated spot, like a basket or shelf, where school materials like backpacks, shoes, lunchboxes, coats, and signed papers are stored every day. Training your child to place their items on the launchpad as soon as they finish homework or get home from school helps keep mornings smooth and prevents those last-minute searches that lead to tardiness.

Social Emotional Learning

We are continuing to focus on being courteous. Courteous is when we are polite, use our manners, and act in a respectful way. Each day after school, consider asking your child:
  • What did you do or say that was courteous today?
  • Did someone do something courteous for you today?

This week our regulation skill is called Standing Tall from the "move it"  category, which are physical strategies that use your body to help regulate your nervous system.

What is Stand Tall?
  • Instead of sitting, try standing to listen or do your work.
  • Notice your feet on the ground and stand tall, like a tree.

In partnership,
Ms. Catie Bartley
