Principal's Message

We are delighted to see your children come in our doors excited about new friends, new classrooms, and new beginnings.  I want to thank you for the many ways you have found to sustain your child’s learning over summer break.  The staff at Chambers have been planning and preparing for the opening of school for quite some time.  Teachers and support staff have been thoughtfully creating classrooms that are inviting and learning-focused for your children.  Our building is sparkling clean and classrooms are ready for learning.

Our PTA has contributed their time and attention to a smooth start by providing staff treats, assembling first day information packets, and welcoming our new families at the Meet & Greet Event.  Thank you PTA!

In partnership, here are some suggestions to make it a great school year:

  1. Children use a lot of “brain power” during a day of learning at school, so make sure they are getting plenty of rest! A good night’s sleep is essential for brain development. Kids between the ages of 5-13 typically require 9 to 11 hours of sleep per day.

  2. Send your child off to school with positive, encouraging words.

  3. Go through your child’s backpacks together and read through the information your child’s teacher sends home.

  4. Read with or to your child before bedtime, that is a great way to foster reading skills.

As I begin my 20th year in education, and 6th as the Principal at Chambers, I am so proud to be working with the highly skilled and committed staff here at Chambers. We will continue our strong focus on teaching and learning in support of every child’s success.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns or just to introduce yourselves and say hello.

Warmly,

Ali Shepard, Chambers Primary
